Tower Hamlets College has regularly commissioned me to raise its profile in local and national media and produce promotional literature to attract new students. The college has excellent links with employers in Canary Wharf and the City, and also universities. It has a strong track record for springboarding students into employment and higher education, which ensures a wealth of good news stories for press releases and brochures. When the college opened its Financial Services Skills Academy and I worked to promote this new facility.
I edited and proof read Barnet College 2011-12 prospectus and course guide.
I have also written several features on primary and secondary education in East London and generated national and local media coverage for schools.
Why I enjoy writing about education: Young people in East London have fewer advantages than many of their peers in Britain, but their energy and ambition is boundless. Growing up in the shadow of the Canary Wharf towers, many say that without the encouragement of their teachers and tutors, they would not have believed that working there was for ‘the likes of them’. Teaching is never an easy ride, and can be particularly challenging in this area, and there is no shortage of inspirational stories from education staff and students.
